House sleeps up to 6 people
Deep in Cathar country, nestling in the foothills of the French Pyrenees the cottage is situated 40 minutes drive from Carcassonne, 90 minutes from Toulouse & 60 minutes from Perpignon - all serviced by Ryanair. The house, which sleeps up to 6, has an open fire, bags of character and a small terrace with fantastic views over the Aude valley, Renne le Chateau, Coustaussa Castle, & surrounding mountains.
The house is arranged over 3 floors with 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor
and a twin room at the top. All the bedrooms have spectacular views. The ground floor kitchen with fridge-/freezer, cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle and dishwasher has all you need for a comfortable stay. The large dining room seats 6 and the lounge, which opens onto the small terrace, is equiped with a CD player and radio.
Montazels has a rail connection to Carcassonne and Quillan. The train stop is a 10 minute walk, with restaurant and shops a further 5 minute walk over the river bridge in Couiza. The village is also home to the Domain de Cairac, where local wines can be tasted and bought. Although the village has no shops the bread van passes the door each morning with your breakfast croissant and baguette on board. Surrounded by vineyards and ideal for walking, cycling and canoeing. Montazels is part of the rich and fascinating history for which this region is renowned - being the birthplace of Berenger Sauniere, the priest at the centre of the Rennes le Chateau mystery made famous by the recent book The Da Vinci Code.
